An Update on Guidelines for Stewards of the Future

In light of changes across British Columbia as a result of COVID-19, especially those that affect schools, we have updated guidelines for the Stewards of the Future program.

We continue to follow direction given by the BC Ministry of Health with respect to staying at home and practicing physical distancing. The health and safety of all British Columbians during this unprecedented time continues to be a top priority, and, of course, students and teachers are no exception .

We understand that those who are participating in our current session of Stewards of the Future may have started or completed projects, while others are in planning stages. We appreciate your enthusiasm and want to give everyone an opportunity to complete their projects where possible. We have therefore extended the deadline for final reporting to June 1, 2020, to alleviate pressure.

The updated Stewards of the Future guidelines are as follows:

Completed Projects:

For those schools who have completed their project, please submit the final report and accompanying video/photos to us by the revised deadline of June 1, 2020.

Partially Completed Projects:

For those schools who have started projects but are unable to finish due to current limitations, please submit a final report and accompanying video/photos of what you have been able to accomplish, including project spending, by June 1, 2020. Outstanding funds are to be refunded to the Office of the Lieutenant Governor by June 30, 2020. Instructions on how to transfer funds are forthcoming.

For Projects Not Yet Started:

For those schools who have been unable to start their projects, please aim to coordinate a fund transfer by June 30, 2020. Instructions on how to transfer funds are forthcoming.

We look forward to learning about your project outcomes. For more information on the Stewards of the Future program please visit our website or our page on Facebook.
