End of Summer News at Government House

On this coming Saturday, August 24, 2024, Government House is delighted to welcome Surrounded by Cedar and the Victoria Native Friendship Centre to the grounds for the Back to School Picnic. This annual event sees more than a thousand backpacks full of school supplies distributed to young Indigenous students, along with a day of fun activities and a BBQ lunch.

Please note if you plan to visit the Government House grounds on Saturday, parking and space will be extremely limited, and that the event is for registered participants only. The event ends at 3:00 pm but parking and access may be affected beyond that time.

A reminder that on Friday, August 30, 2024, Rudi’s Tea Room wraps up its summer season. The staff and volunteers at Rudi’s thank all who stopped by for a cup of coffee, a scone, or a delicious roast beef sandwich, and look forward to seeing everyone next summer. Along with Rudi’s Tea Room, the Cary Castle Mews will also be closing for the season on August 30. This includes the Costume Museum, so stop by and check out the 2024 exhibit if you haven’t already.

There’s still a week left to have your favourite lunch at Rudi’s: find more information and the 2024 menu here.

Want to take a peek inside Government House? Public tours will be taking a break for the fall but you can sign up for the final tours of the summer for Sunday, August 25; Saturday, August 31, Sunday, August 1; and Monday, August 2.
