Alec Dick
The Lieutenant Governor’s Award for Maritime Achievement recognizes and acknowledges individuals and organizations along British Columbia’s coast and inland waterways who have made noteworthy contributions to BC’s maritime interests in the areas of science, technology, business, applications of maritime skills, nautical heritage and culture, art, and academic endeavours.

Alec Dick is a proud member of the Ahousaht First Nation. Alec wasInstrumental in initiating and working with the Canadian Coast Guard in the development of the Coastal Nations Coast Guard Auxiliary, and currently serves as the Board Chair of the Coastal Nations Coast Guard Auxiliary. The CN-CGA now includes eight Nations along the BC coast. Alec is also the Emergency Response team coordinator for the Ahousaht First Nation and had a key role in setting up the new Emergency Coordination Centre, working with volunteers from Ahousaht, Hesquiaht and Tla-o-qui-aht First Nations. In June of this year Alec represented the Coast Nations CGA at the World Maritime Rescue Congress in Rotterdam.
