His Honour Sergio Cocchia, OBC, LLD (Hon), is the President of Crew Group of Companies, a hotel and property management company. His Honour oversees a varied business venture with his partner and wife, the Honourable Wendy Cocchia, Lieutenant Governor of British Columbia. His Honour has overseen the Century Plaza Hotel in downtown Vancouver for over 35 years.
His Honour serves as President of the Pacific Autism Family Center Foundation (PAFN), a family-led initiative to create an “Autism Spectrum Disorder Knowledge Center” for the Province of BC. As proponents of this project, Their Honours secured a $20 million grant from the provincial government towards the completion of this $35 million initiative. In budget 2018, the federal government announced $10.9 million of support for their new initiative the Autism and Intellectual Disabilities Exchange, a national tool for families living with this diagnosis.
In 2010, Their Honours were honoured with a Doctors of Laws (Hon.) from the Justice Institute of B.C. and, in 2018, from the University of Vancouver Island, in recognition of their accomplishments and contributions to the province of British Columbia, in particular their shared vision in establishing the PAFN. They received the BC Community Achievement Award in 2012; the “Doorman of the Year”; the Queen Elizabeth Diamond Jubilee Medal; and, in 2013, His Honour became a member of the Order of British Columbia. In 2017, Their Honours were honored as “Luminaries” by the Big Sisters of Vancouver and in 2023, they were also honored with the Rix Award for Engaged Citizenship. In 2024, His Honour received the King Charles III Coronation Medal.
