Each Lieutenant Governor has the opportunity to create unique programs and initiatives to bring awareness and support to issues affecting British Columbians. The Honourable Iona Campagnolo developed the Lieutenant Governor’s Awards for Excellence in British Columbia Wines, which ran for more than 15 years and helped promote what was then a fledgling industry in the province. The Honourable Steven Point created Write to Read, bringing books, libraries, computers, tablets and high-speed Internet connections to remote First Nations communities. The Honourable Judith Guichon shared her love of environmental stewardship with students through the Stewards of the Future program.
It is with the generous funding support of the Government House Foundation that the Lieutenant Governor’s programs and awards can have a positive impact province-wide. A highlight of the Foundation’s initiatives and a major fundraiser is the annual black-tie Gala Ball, held at Government House.
The event features a live music and entertainment, BC wine and spirits, and cuisine prepared by Government House’s executive chef Aleks Kornat and culinary team. There will also be a unique live auction, as part of the fundraising initiative.
Tickets are $300 per person, which includes a $100 tax receipt.
Your ticket will help fund the upcoming priority programs of the Honourable Janet Austin, 30th Lieutenant Governor of British Columbia. This includes the recently announced LG Youth Advisory Committee, a guiding body to advise Her Honour on relevant issues impacting young people and identify ways to engage the next generation of British Columbians.
