Every July, Rudi’s Tea Room at Government House celebrates the birthday of its namesake, Rudi Hoenson, by doing what Rudi did best: giving back to the community. A storied philanthropist, Rudi’s generosity helped expand the Tea Room to its current capacity, creating the kind of gathering space he so appreciated.
Rudi’s love and support of Government House and its grounds will be recognized in 2025 on Tuesday, July 15. On Rudi’s Day, all proceeds from the day’s dessert sales will go toward the Lodge at Broadmead. The Lodge supports veterans, and held a special place in Rudi’s heart– he himself was a WWII veteran, who witnessed the atomic bombing of Nagasaki firsthand.
