On Saturday, August 23, 2025, Government House will host the Back to School Picnic, in partnership with the Victoria Native Friendship Centre and Surrounded by Cedar Child and Family Services.

This annual event brings more than 1000 young students and their families to the grounds for free school supply kits, a variety of fun activities and a BBQ lunch.

The scale of the event means that access to the grounds of Government House will be limited throughout the day. Parking will be inaccessible for most of the day and the upper footpaths and fields will be busy. The House is not open to the general public.

Public tours have been rescheduled from Saturday to Sunday, August 24, 2025. Pre-register for the Sunday tours here.
