Women in Technology Scholarship Luncheon and Awards Ceremony

Women are under-represented in the study of engineering, computer science, and mathematics. While representing 53% of the BC post-secondary student population (2016), women only occupied 32% of those studying in these fields. Post-secondary graduation rates for women in technology related disciplines range between 13 and 35 percent when compared to their male counterparts.

The Irving K Barber British Columbia Scholarship Society established the Women in Technology Scholarship and the Aboriginal Women in Technology Scholarship programs to recognize and encourage women in BC who are excelling in the study of specific technology related subjects. Ten Scholarships are awarded annually including one specifically dedicated to a woman of Indigenous ancestry.
