The Honourable Janet Austin, OBC, has been installed as British Columbia’s 30th Lieutenant Governor on Tuesday, April 24, 2018.
The formal ceremony took place in the legislative chamber, beginning at 2 p.m. The Lieutenant Governor took the Oath of Allegiance and the Oaths of Office. The Great Seal of the Province of B.C. was also passed to the new Lieutenant Governor.
Following the installation ceremony, Her Honour inspected the 100-person Guard of Honour. There was a 15-gun Vice-Regal Salute and the Naden Band of the Royal Canadian Navy played the Vice-Regal Salute.

The Lieutenant Governor is appointed by the Right Honourable Julie Payette, Governor General of Canada, on the recommendation of the prime minister, and typically serves a five year term.
