TEA ROOM MANAGER

An excellent opportunity to showcase your management skills in a unique and diverse food and beverage environment!

Nestled within the 36-acres of lush gardens at Government House, the Tea Room at the Cary Castle Mews is a bustling 75-seat cafe offering refreshments, pastries, and light lunches. Primarily supported by a cadre of volunteers, the Tea Room is a popular destination for locals and tourists alike. The Tea Room Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Tea Room including training, scheduling, and inventory.

Responsibilities:

– Schedule volunteers
– Set and communicate expectations to staff and volunteers
– Liaise with Executive Chef to determine inventory requirements
– Comply with health and safety legislation and guidelines in accordance with Island Health
– Schedule periodic food and beverage service staff meetings to ensure correct interpretation of policies and obtain feedback from staff members
– Maintain ambiance by controlling lighting, background music, linen service, glassware, dinnerware, and utensil quality and placement
– Monitor food presentation and service
– Reconcile daily cash and POS sales
– Take reservations and ensure Tea Room is properly and sufficiently staffed to accommodate these groups
– Nurture a positive working environment and lead by example as a restaurant supervisor
– Monitor Tea Room cell phone and email while providing timely and appropriate responses to customer queries

Requirements:

– Strong customer service background
– Strong teamwork and organizational skills
– Proficient in Point of Sale (POS) software, cash float management, inventory monitoring, staff schedules tracking and pay
– Experience managing volunteers is an asset
– FoodSafe certified
– Driver’s license
– Criminal record clearance

Wage: $20.00/ hour – TEA ROOM MANAGER
Working Hours: 9:00-4:30 (Tuesday through Saturday) (35 hours/week)
Start date: May 10, 2018
End date: September 1, 2018

Primarily supported by a cadre of volunteers, the Tea Room is a popular destination for locals and tourists alike. The Tea Room Associate is responsible for assisting the Tea Room Manager in the day-to-day operations of the Tea Room including food preparation and cashier duties.

Responsibilities:

– Assist with food presentation and service: includes food preparation, cashier duties and waiting of tables
– Take reservations
– Reconcile daily cash and POS sales
– Nurture a positive working environment
– Monitor Tea Room cell phone and email while providing timely and appropriate responses to customer queries

Requirements:

– Strong customer service background
– Strong teamwork and organizational skills
– Proficient in Point of Sale (POS) software and cash float management
