This is the second year in a row the Gabriola Island Singers have won.


Enthusiasm and Spirit Award:
"A Little Thanks" by Ranch Park Elementary School.

The awards are generously sponsored by Wayne Strandlund and Elena Markos of Victoria, and the Government House Foundation. Entries were scored on musicality, spirit and originality by a panel of musicians which included Lieutenant (N) Matthew Clark, Commanding Officer of the Naden Band of the Royal Canadian Navy; Maureen Archambault, musical director of Youth Choir 61, the Honour Choir of the Greater Victoria School District; and Heather Pawsey, opera singer and artistic director of Astrolabe Musik Theatre. All submissions had to have a minimum of eight voices, be original content and inspired by the Canada 150 theme.


"Sing Me a Song" begins again this coming autumn with songs due in early spring 2017.
